Module 3 and Teacher Interview

This chapters talked about positive and negative reinforcement. My experience with high school students so far is that every student has different ways to get motivated. Juniors and seniors sooner or later start to realize the importance of taking responsibility for their own learning. Misbehaviors have many factors such as lack of motivation, lesson plan are not interesting enough, and high school students have more responsibilities and need to learn how to manage stress. I believe that discipline in secondary education plays a huge role and creating a positive climate in class will benefit all students in a classroom. I interviewed a high school business teacher who has been teaching for seven years. When I walked into the classroom everything seemed to be organized and arrange like a company. Students would be seated in groups at different locations. The groups were called by their expertise. Groups included: Human Resources, Marketing, Accounting, Research and Development and B...

Module 2

In chapter 4 it talks about creativity. I see creativity as one of the most important things in the classroom. Teachers should develop lessons that allow students to be creative. I have been to only one school where 4th graders can go for 40 minutes to this room that the school created and students are able to use all the resources to be creative. In that room, there was papers and materials to make bracelets. Students are also able to use a tablet to be creative and develop their own music using technology. This space was designated for students to be creative and use different skills to create something. The book talks about the importance of brainstorming. It said "The basic tenet of brainstorming is to separate the process of creating ideas from the process of evaluating them because evaluation often inhibits creativity (Osborn, 1963) (Pg,137). If students are not allowed to be creative during school then they won't be able to use their skills to become independent thinker...

Module 1

In chapter one I found interesting the different type of research and data schools can use to help students. One of the research that I found interesting was correlation. Correlation is a calculation that allows you to see if one variable has a connection with another variable. I can connect this to business classes and my personal experience because in business we use correlation as part of the research of a business plan. I plan to teach this method to advance business classes because it will give students a useful tool when their business is not generating enough revenue. Woolfolk used this method to find if there is a correlation between landscape lawns and school achievement. It also talks about how correlation can lead to more correlations and creates this three-way triangle that connects all three correlations (Woolfolk, p.16). This chapter also talks about how teachers depend on their own research to improve lesson plans and classroom management. Teachers have to conduct rese...
